Integrale della musica per pianoforte di Maurice Ravel
A seguito dell’uscita del doppio cd di Carbonara per la Brilliant Classics, è interessante costruire un programma contenente brani di Maurice Ravel.
E’ possibile accostare ad una prima parte di stile austro/tedesco (Haydn,Mozart, Beethoven o Schubert) una seconda parte raveliana (ad esempio Gaspard de la Nuit, oppure Tombeau de Couperin, oppure Miroirs, o anche una serie di pezzi meno eseguiti, come Á la manière de… , Sérènade grotesque e Menuet antique).
Nino Rota
Per il trentennale della morte di Nino Rota è stata pubblicata da Brilliant Classics una incisione di brani per pianoforte solo eseguiti da Carbonara.
Si tratta di musica molto interessante ed estremamente godibile all’ascolto. Oltre al repertorio compreso nel cd è possibile eseguire in concerto le Variazioni sul nome di Bach, brano molto bello e notevolmente virtuosistico.
E’ consigliabile anche in questo caso contrapporre una prima parte di programma contrastante ad una seconda contenente musica di Nino Rota.
Domenico Scarlatti
Carbonara è specializzato in Domenico Scarlatti, le sue esecuzioni di tale repertorio sono state apprezzate ed applaudite in tutto il mondo. Brilliant Classics pubblicherà un doppio cd di Sonate di Scarlatti alla fine dell’anno 2009. E’ possibile inserire una serie di Sonate in programma (tre, sei, oppure dodici che formano una intera prima parte di recital) e magari accostare un altro gigante della storia della musica (Bach, oppure Liszt o Chopin).
Le Sette ultime parole di Cristo sulla croce di Franz Joseph Haydn
A parte una discreta quantità di sonate per pianoforte di Haydn, Carbonara ha in repertorio le magnifiche Sette ultime parole di Cristo sulla croce nella versione (originale di Haydn) per pianoforte solo, sicuramente una delle vette della creatività del compositore, che acquistano una intimità ed una poesia unica nella versione pianistica rispetto alle più frequentate versioni per orchestra o per quartetto d’archi. Si può proporre l’opera integralmente (dura 75 minuti) oppure eseguire una scelta di brani da inserire in un normale programma di recital.
Winterreise di Schubert con Sigurdur Bragason
Il duo propone l’esecuzione del capolavoro liederistico di Schubert, che verrà inciso nell’anno 2010 e che verrà eseguito in varie parti del mondo (Stati Uniti, Italia, Islanda, Svizzera).
Flauto francese con Daria Grillo
Accanto a pezzi celebri come la Sonata di Poulenc è possibile accostare brani di Widor o di Sancan che, pur non essendo noti a gran parte del pubblico, sono molto belli e conquistano immediatamente l’attenzione degli ascoltatori.
Si può naturalmente abbinare agli autori francesi compositori di altra nazionalità, come Schubert, Martinu, Hindemith eccetera.
La sfida Scarlatti-Haendel
Questo particolare ed innovativo progetto può essere rappresentato sia in teatri e grandi sale che in piccoli spazi. Ricrea il duello musicale che si tenne realmente nel 1709, durante il quale Haendel e Scarlatti suonarono e improvvisarono mandando in delirio chi vi assistette.
La sfida è ricreata con due pianoforti, Carbonara nei panni di Scarlatti ed il pianista Cédric Pescia in quelli di Haendel. Il programma non viene annunciato al pubblico, ma vengono proposte delle categorie (pezzo in forma fugata, variazioni, umoristico, fantasie, danze ecc.) con esecuzioni di brani di Scarlatti ed Haendel
Completano la performance trascrizioni di brani di Scarlatti ed Haendel per due pianoforti e una sezione di improvvisazione, in cui i due musicisti creeranno musica estemporaneamente.
Progetto Crossover 1: Piano Diary di Cristian Carrara
E’ il tentativo di coniugare le idee ed il talento di due artisti, Cristian e Michelangelo, l’uno creatore di musica moderna per pianoforte, l’altro interprete di tale musica. Musica per tutti, diretta, ma composta con cura, affidata ad un pianista classico professionista per trarne la parte più nobile. In arrivo l’incisione discografica. E’ possibile eseguire la musica come parte di un recital oppure abbinare delle immagini o dei video, ove le risorse lo consentano.
Progetto Crossover 2 con Paolo Marchettini: JazzCarbonara e il clarinettista Marchettini hanno preparato uno spettacolo in cui repertorio classico importante (Poulenc, Bernstein, Saint-Saens, Stravinsky) viene inframmezzato da momenti di Jazz (Benny Goodman, Sidney Bechet, George Gershwin) di improvvisazione e addirittura di pop, con arrangiamenti innovativi di famose melodie. Sono presenti nella sezione Download alcuni esempi tratti da questo tipo di spettacolo.
Progetto Crossover 3 con Gabriele Baldocci: QueenIn occasione del ventesimo anniversario della morte di Freddie Mercury (novembre 2011) i due pianisti Carbonara e Baldocci hanno preparato qualcosa di davvero nuovo: uno show per due pianoforti e due voci (le loro!) a cavallo tra musica da camera e pop in cui saranno ripercorsi i lavori più importanti dei Queen riarrangiati per l'occasione dai due artisti.

Complete piano music by Maurice Ravel
As Carbonara recorded all Ravel piano music for Brilliant Classics, it can be interesting a recital program including some compositions by Maurice Ravel.
It is nice to set a first part with German/Austrian pieces (Haydn, Mozart, Beethoven or Schubert) and then a second part with Ravel music (Gaspard de la Nuit or Tombeau de Couperin, or Miroirs, or some less known pieces such as Á la manière de… , Sérènade grotesque and Menuet antique).
Nino Rota
For the thirtieth anniversary of Nino Rota’s death Brilliant Classics released a recording of his piano music performed by Carbonara.
Rota’s music is indeed quite interesting and enjoyable. Apart from the whole repertoire played in the recording it is possible to include the nice and difficult Variations on Bach’s name. It is a good structure for a program to have Rota in the second part of a recital and some contrasting music in the first part.
Domenico Scarlatti
Carbonara knows very well how to play Domenico Scarlatti, his performances of this music have been clapped and appreciated all around the world. Brilliant Classics will release two CDs of Scarlatti sonatas performed by Carbonara on December 2009. A good program could include a set of Scarlatti Sonatas (three, six, or twelve filling a whole first part of a recital) and some other great composers for keyboard (Bach, Liszt, Chopin).
Joseph Haydn's Seven last words of Christ on the cross
Carbonara can perform some Haydn Piano Sonatas as well as the magnificent Seven last words of Christ on the cross transcribed by the composer himself for piano, for sure one of the highlights of the composer’s output, with an unexpected intimate feeling and deep poetry due of the performance for piano solo instead of the more standard versions for string quartet or full orchestra. The composition can be played all in a row (length is about 75 minutes) or just a choice of pieces included in a standard recital program.
Schubert's Winterreise with Sigurdur Bragason
The duo will record and present Schubert’s masterpiece Winterreise all around the world (USA, Iceland, Italy, Switzerland so far).
French flute with Daria Grillo
Besides some famous pieces such as the Poulenc Sonata it is possible to play some pieces by Widor or Sancan, very beautiful and enchanting music despite the fact these composers are not so famous worldwide. It can be good of course to combine some other composers of different nationality (Schubert, Martinu, Hindemith and so on).
The Scarlatti-Haendel challenge
This really interesting and innovative project can be performed either in big halls or in small places. It recreates the musical duel happened in 1709, in which Haendel and Scarlatti played and made improvisations driving the public listening at it crazy. The challenge is presented again this time using two grand pianos, Carbonara in the role of Scarlatti and the pianist Cédric Pescia in the Haendel’s one. The program is not fixed and not written in the concert brochure, but announced directly on stage splitted in categories (fugato piece, variations, humouristic style, fantasy, dances and so on). At the end of the show there are some pieces transcribed for two pianos as well as an improvisation section in the Baroque style.
Crossover Project 1: A Piano Diary by Cristian Carrara
It is the attempt to marry Cristian and Michelangelo's ideas and talent, one creator of modern music for piano, the other a free interpreter of that music. A music for everybody, direct but professionally crafted, devolved to a classical pianist to obtain the best and the noblest from the scores. An official recording is coming soon. It is possible to have Carrara music as a part of a solo recital or add some pictures or videos where available.
Crossover Project 1 with Paolo Marchettini: Jazz
Carbonara and the clarinetist Marchettini have projected a show combining some important classic repertoire (Poulenc, Bernstein, Saint-Saens, Stravinsky) with Jazz intermezzi (Benny Goodman, Sidney Bechet, George Gershwin), improvisation and glimpse of pop, rearranging in a unusual way some famous melodies. in the Download section you can find some examples of this type of show.
Progetto Crossover 2 con Gabriele Baldocci: Queen
In November 2011 there will be the twentieth anniversary from Freddie Mercury's death. Two pianists Carbonara and Baldocci have created a really new kind of concert: a show for two pianos and two voices (their voices actually!) sharing chamber music and pop music and retracing Queen career with arrangements made by the duo.
